Exactly as described, they work great. We have vaulted ceilings and windows at the top and needed remote controlled blinds. These are perfect! They were easy to install, the remote came pre-programmed. Super easy!

Smartwings shades are clearly a good deal for anyone looking to add smart shades to their home. I have only purchased Thread/Matter honeycomb shades, but I am happy with them. However, they are not perfect and Smartwings could do a bit to improve these shades for you.
First, there are some discrepancies in the items you get. The name or manufacturer of the item you see when you pair these devices could be Smartwings or it could be Hoorii which shows that there are multiple manufacturers working together or a lack of communication about the device naming schemes at the factories. Not a big deal, but this is a bit odd.
Second, when you open each package, it’s as if the number of mounts you get is random. For some larger windows I got 6 mounts while for other same size windows, I got 3. Some of my packages didn’t include charging cables, but most did. Not a worry as if you have one or two cables (which were the only cables that seemed to work for the batteries) then you are good to go. Only one package out of two different shipments included additional mounting supplies like a level and a pencil. I didn’t even know this was possible until I opened my second to last box.
Third, given that windows are often framed with wood and not just drywall, it would be nice for Smartwings to include an additional pack of self-tapping wood screws so that you did not need to mount using a wall anchor.
Finally, there are some obvious quality control issues. A few of my blinds measure shorter in length than I ordered which makes them not cover the window entirely. Some of the blinds do not seem to close all the way. By that, I mean barely. You can tell on one side of the shade that it is still slightly open. Again, not a big deal, but worth noting for QC to monitor a bit. The length of the shades being off is more concerning. On the same note, I have had a few shades disconnect from my thread network and I am not certain if it is the shades themselves, or if it is my hub. Since I can’t be sure at the moment, I won’t put this as a point against Smartwings, but I mention it just as something they should also be wary of in terms of performance.
Overall I’m extremely impressed with the shades. Given I can only rate on 1-5, I chose 4 stars for the items due to the QC issues I’ve faced. Given the price of the items compared to competitors, I’d prefer to rate a 4.5 star (9/10) if I could. I’m happy and would order again. If the QC issues improve, I’d be recommending these to everyone I know and would immediately move to a 10/10 5 star rating. Smartwings customer service has been helpful and the shipping time was fairly quick.
If you’re looking for a good value custom sized automated shade, give these a shot before you spend double or even quadruple for competitors’ versions.

I followed the measurement guide and my shades fit perfectly. They come already configured for the remote I ordered and the installation was super easy, just two screws per shade.

Instructions are diagrams only, no explanations. One shows the battery to the far left side of the shade, but the wires that need to be connected won’t allow that to happen.

I’ve been looking for a solution that looks neat and tidy, and is almost invisible while up, but is effective at blocking sun when down. There are lots of very expensive options out there, but this solution was reasonably priced, easily customized, and extremely easy to install! It took my 74-year-old mom and me about 40 minutes from start to finish to read the instructions, install the brackets, install the shades, pair the remote and put it to good use. Very very pleased.

It took me a little while to get the integration into Alexa to work but that hurdle has been crossed and my next step is to move to pairing with Home Assistant thought the Zigbee Home Automation.
One big advantage I found is with the blackout blinds, the temperatures in the room where they are used are staying much cooler. This is a side effect I did not know would happen.

The color is acceptable in my space, but would have preferred it closer to the light grey pictured on the website.

We love our SmartWings blinds! However, I believe we paid a little extra to be able to operate the blinds with Alexa but we can’t figure out how to get that set up. I think we’re supposed to have a QR code to do that but there is no QR code to be found. I hope we were sent the correct motors to be able to do this.

This is my first time installing any kind of shades on my own. The install itself was insanely easy, took way less time than I expected it to. My only complaint, which may come from being new at this, is that it was not very clear to me that if you used this over a door with glass, that you won’t have enough space to place the battery behind the valence. Your only options are to mount it in front where you would see it (not great though maybe not as bad if you customize it to be white), or to balance it on top and pray it doesn’t fall when you swing the door open and close. The only other thing is I guess I thought it would be a big darker of a brown, but it’s not a bad color.
